WHOs PHC Performance Initiative: Effective primary health care is essential to strong health systems. Countries with high-performing primary health care achieve better health outcomes, more equitably and at lower cost compared to peers that over emphasize hospital and specialty care. On 26 September 2015, WHO, the World Bank Group and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation launch the Primary Health Care Performance Initiative (PHCPI).
